Gender Gear Consultations are 30-minute conversations with an INTERA Gender Gear Navigator. We can help you compare products, understand different features, think through fit and function, and make more informed decisions about the gear you want to explore.
You do not need to know exactly what product you need before booking. Exploration is part of the process.

SURGICAL SUPPORT
Practical, lived-experience-based support before and after gender-affirming surgery.
Pre- & Post-Surgical Peer Navigation gives you space to talk through preparation, recovery, practical questions, resources, and the everyday realities that can come with gender-affirming surgery.
You can use this service before surgery, after surgery, or at different points throughout the process. You do not need to have everything figured out before booking.

First Steps provides focused psychoeducation, practical guidance, and resource navigation in a supportive consultation with a qualified mental health professional.
You can bring questions, concerns, uncertainty, or situations you are trying to understand. The goal is not to have all the answers before you arrive. The conversation is designed to help you build understanding and identify constructive next steps.

Gender Journey Peer Navigation and Pre- & Post-Surgical Peer Navigation are non-clinical peer-support services grounded in lived experience, practical knowledge, mentorship, and resource navigation.
Gender Gear Consultations are educational consultations designed to help you make informed decisions about gender-affirming products. They are not medical assessments or healthcare services.
First Steps Family Education & Support is facilitated by qualified mental health professionals and provides education, guidance, and resource navigation. It is not intended to establish an ongoing therapeutic relationship or replace psychotherapy or medical care.
No. INTERA Navigation & Support services can be accessed without a referral.
GENDER GEAR CONSULTATIONS
Work with a trained Gender Gear Navigator to explore gender-affirming products, compare options, receive personalized fitting support, and think about gear in relation to your body, goals, lifestyle, and budget.
GENDER JOURNEY PEER NAVIGATION
Connect with a trained Peer Support Navigator who shares lived experience and can offer short-term mentorship, emotional support, practical guidance, and resource navigation.
PRE- & POST-SURGICAL PEER NAVIGATION
Connect with a Peer Support Navigator with lived experience of gender-affirming surgery to explore preparation, recovery, practical questions, and the realities of the surgical process.
FIRST STEPS FAMILY EDUCATION
Meet with a qualified professional for psychoeducation, guidance, communication support, and resource navigation related to gender diversity and supporting a child, youth, partner, family member, or loved one.
Most INTERA support services are offered free of charge or on a sliding-scale basis for up to two appointments, subject to available funding and program capacity.
Fees for additional or professional services may vary. Current pricing is available during the booking process or by contacting INTERA directly.
Yes. Information shared during appointments is treated respectfully and confidentially.
There are limited circumstances in which confidentiality may need to be broken because of legal, ethical, or safety obligations. These may include a serious and imminent risk of harm, concerns about abuse or neglect where reporting is required by law, or circumstances in which records are legally required.
Whenever possible, we will make reasonable efforts to discuss these situations with you.
Gender Gear Consultations, Gender Journey Peer Navigation, and Pre- & Post-Surgical Peer Navigation are generally booked for 30 minutes.
First Steps Family Education & Support appointments use a longer appointment format. Confirm the current appointment length when booking.
Yes. Family members, partners, and other support people are welcome to attend appointments where appropriate and with your consent.
Absolutely. Your needs may change over time, and you can access different INTERA services at different points in your journey.
For example, someone might begin with a Gender Gear Consultation, later use Gender Journey Peer Navigation, and eventually access Pre- & Post-Surgical Peer Navigation.
Peer Support is designed as a short-term service that helps people build confidence, access resources, and identify practical next steps.
INTERA aims to provide up to two peer-support sessions on a low-to-no-cost sliding scale, subject to available funding and program capacity.
Additional fee-for-service appointments may be available for people who would like continued support.
If your needs extend beyond the scope of INTERA services, we will do our best to help connect you with appropriate healthcare providers, mental health professionals, community organizations, or other relevant resources.
