INTERA is committed to handling personal information with care, transparency, and respect.

Our Commitment to Privacy

INTERA is a community initiative stewarded by the Centre for Trauma-Informed Fitness. We recognize that people may share personal, sensitive, or identity-related information when accessing our services, programs, resources, appointments, or gear.

We aim to collect only the information reasonably necessary to provide the support, service, or communication you have requested, and to handle that information responsibly.

Information We May Collect

Depending on how you interact with INTERA, we may collect information such as:

  • Name and contact information
  • Email address and phone number
  • Appointment or consultation information
  • Information submitted through forms or intake processes
  • Information related to gender gear needs, access, fit, sizing, or preferences
  • Information related to navigation or support requests
  • Purchase, order, or pick-up information
  • Recovery Lending Library information
  • Survey responses, feedback, or program evaluation information
  • Newsletter or email subscription information
  • Messages or other information you choose to provide directly to us

Why We Collect Information

Sensitive Information

Some INTERA services may involve information about gender, bodies, accessibility needs, health-related experiences, family circumstances, or other personal topics.

We recognize that this information may be particularly sensitive. We aim to collect only what is reasonably necessary for the service being provided and to use it only for the purposes for which it was collected, unless otherwise permitted or required by law.

Third-Party Services and Processing Outside Canada

INTERA uses third-party platforms and service providers to help operate our website, appointments, forms, communications, payments, and other parts of our services.

Our website and some INTERA services are provided through OfferingTree. Personal information submitted through OfferingTree may be processed or stored in the United States for the purpose of providing and supporting these services.

When personal information is processed or stored outside Canada, it may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction in which it is processed or stored, including lawful access by courts, law enforcement, or government authorities in that jurisdiction.

Other service providers may also process or store information on our behalf and may have their own privacy policies and practices. Where appropriate, we encourage you to review the privacy information provided by the platform you are using.

Sharing and Disclosure

INTERA does not sell personal information.

Personal information may be shared with service providers where necessary to operate our programs or services, or where disclosure is authorized or required by law.

We aim to limit access to personal information to people and service providers who reasonably require it for the work they are performing.

Consent and Your Choices

Where consent is required, we aim to explain what information is being collected and why.

You may choose not to provide certain information, although this may affect our ability to provide a particular service or respond to a request.

If you subscribe to INTERA email communications, you may unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe option provided in those messages.

Keeping Information Safe

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information we hold and the size and nature of our organization.

No online system can guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to reduce the risk of unauthorized access, use, disclosure, loss, or misuse.

Retention and Destruction

We aim to keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected and to meet applicable legal, financial, administrative, or program requirements.

When information is no longer reasonably required, we aim to securely delete, destroy, or anonymize it where appropriate.

You may contact INTERA if you have questions about personal information we hold about you or if you would like to request access to or correction of your information where applicable.

Children and Youth

Some INTERA programs and services may be available to children, youth, and families. We aim to collect only the information reasonably necessary to provide those services and to use age-appropriate, proportionate privacy practices.

Additional consent or involvement from a parent or guardian may be required in some circumstances depending on the service, the young person, and applicable requirements.
