GEAR ON THE GO

What Is Gear On The Go?

Gear On The Go is INTERA’s portable gender-affirming gear education and access station.

It brings gender gear, practical education, and personalized support into community spaces so people can explore options without needing to begin with a store, appointment, or online search.

Visitors can learn about different kinds of gender-affirming gear, touch and compare real products, ask questions, and get a better sense of how different options might look, feel, and function.

Gear On The Go can appear as a pre-booked pop-up at conferences, community events, markets, workshops, and other gatherings throughout the Edmonton area.

Gear On The Go display table with packers, STPs, breast forms, prosthetics, tape, and educational resources in a range of shapes and skin tones

You do not have to know exactly what you need before you visit. Gear On The Go is designed to make exploration part of the process.

BUILT FOR MORE BODIES

Something For Everyone!

Gender-affirming gear should be easier to explore when you can see more than one body, one size, one colour, or one idea of who the gear is “for.”

GENDER COMPREHENSIVE

Gear Is Organized Around Outcomes, Not Gender Rules

Gear On The Go includes options for people exploring a wide range of gender identities, expressions, bodies, and goals.

Rather than treating particular products as belonging to one gender, we help people think about what they want the gear to do and which approach may support that outcome.

SIZE COMPREHENSIVE

Bodies Are Not One Size

Our display collection includes adult and youth models across a broad range of sizes so people can better understand proportion, construction, fit, and how gear changes across different bodies.

Seeing multiple sizes can make it easier to compare options and imagine how a product may work beyond the single sample usually shown online.

BODY & COLOUR REPRESENTATION

Representation Changes What You Can Imagine

Wherever product options allow, our demonstration gear reflects variation in body size, shape, and skin tone.

Seeing different bodies and colours represented can make comparison more useful and help people get a clearer sense of what might feel realistic or affirming for them.

More representation creates more useful choices. Gear On The Go is designed to help people compare possibilities across genders, ages, sizes, bodies, and different goals for using gear.

EXPLORE · EXPERIENCE · EMBODY

Learn About Gear In Your Community

Gear On The Go is built around more than simply looking at products. It gives people opportunities to learn, compare, handle, try, ask questions, and think about how different options may work in real life.

EXPLORE

Learn What Is Possible

Learn about different kinds of gender-affirming gear, what they are designed to do, how different approaches compare, and which options may be relevant to your goals.

You can explore compression, enhancement, fit, function, materials, sizing, positioning, care, and everyday use without needing to know exactly what you are looking for before you arrive.

EXPERIENCE

Touch, Compare & Try

Photos and product descriptions can only tell you so much. Gear On The Go lets you handle real products, compare materials, weights, textures, shapes, sizes, and features, and see how different options relate to one another.

Where appropriate, you may also be able to try or position demonstration gear and explore how different setups feel.

EMBODY

Discover What Works for You

OUR GOAL

Expanding Access Across Alberta

Our goal is to grow Gear On The Go so more communities across Alberta can access gender-affirming gear education and support, with particular attention to youth, rural communities, and populations that face greater barriers to accessing gear in person.

We want to build ways for people to explore real products, ask informed questions, and understand their options without needing to travel long distances or rely entirely on online shopping.

Access should not depend on your postal code. Gear On The Go began as a local model, but the need for practical, affirming, hands-on gender gear education extends far beyond Edmonton.
